I love them. I wouldn't be a meadmaker without bees. I don't think I have any pictures of them though. I've thought about keeping them as well, but not until I get some property out in the country.
I'm into bees & wasps - I already have a really nice collection of bumblebee specimens from your part of the world that I exchanged with a bee enthusiast a long while ago. However, nice to see pics of some of the bumbles in real life. Here are a couple of bees from the UK
Male Bombus lucorum (which I think does actually make it to N/W Canada)
I have 12 hives right now, that is almost 1/2 a million bees ( that is an estimation I didn't really count them). I came out of last winter with 4 and was able to split and multiply them this summer, plus have taken about 150 pounds of honey so far. It has been a good year for bees here in PA. Only wish my tarantulas would multiply that easy. Bees and wasps are always cool to watch, like when a mud wasp will shake a spider web to lure the spider out onto the web. Some day I will get pictures. Good to see I am not the only stinging insect fan.
