Can anyone Id this Beetle?

Found it on the side of some rotting wood. I think it is very pretty...nice white and black colors.

Right when i touched it it curled into the position that it is in. Hasnt moved from that position for a while. It is 2.5 cm long

I only know the common U.S. name. It's an "iron-clad beetle". We don't have them where I live but I see them in books and they always stick out in my memory.

Sure ill mail it to you, im going out of town for about 4 days...leaving tomorrow. How would i mail it? Does it need anything special to survive the 4 days i will be gone? It is on moist substrate and has a shell to hide in.

Wow... at the begining I though it was something like our Cryptorhynchus. Without visible antennas and head it was difficult for me to ID it, even to family. Now this is the first time when I see beetle belonging to Zopheridae family. We haven't got them in Poland... what a pity. Especially that they are saproxylic beetles.
You are lucky  (I think) ;)

Iron clad....very "hard" beetle. They start turning dark like that when they get srtessed out. It will go away and will be white with speckled balck. Eventually it will stop playing dead but some seem allot more patient than others.
