Ok, I always thought my beardie was a male, but now I'm not sure. How would I go about sexing my bearded dragon? He's 16" from tip of snout to end of tail. Let me know what pictures, if any, you need to sex it.

Thanks in advance!

Just get a shot of his "nether region" and I can most likely tell you... even as blind as I am. Hugo is about 15" now and he just popped out the biggest pores I've ever seen on a boy! Of course, I've known he was a fella since he was little, though... he's always been very well endowed... ahem.

Haha awesome! I will get you the pictures first thing tomorrow. Bandakout is sleeping right now.. Whats the size for a full grown male? He grew alot the first year I had him and the last year he has kinda slowed down.

I think even if my Pip didn't have his spores I would still know. He's another one that's obviously "packing". :8o

When you have him out, sit him on a flat surface and lift his tail straight up. If you see two bumps... even slight ones... it's likely a male; and if there's just one big lump... then female. Also, if it's really "squishy" back there around his "nether region", then he's a HIM. "Squishy" generally is due to hemipenes being in there... and girls lack those, so they feel more "boney".

Don't feel embarassed about feeling up your Beardie. Now, if you get bit whilst doing so... don't tell the whole story ;P

Btw, I never noticed Hugo's pores until he shed on Sunday. He looks like someone took a Sharpie and put dots along the inside of each leg.

My male is 2 years old and he's only 16 inches. Now he seems to be putting on more bulk than length, even though he's still eating like a horse. I had a female and she was 6 months younger but about 2 inches longer than my male.

 I won't be embarrassed, but it's gonna be his/hers first time and I don't want to be bit and told I'm rushing things..

Thanks alot Aminah! I'll check it out first thing in the morning and take some pictures as well, so I can get your opinion.

I'm late! Sorry... was picking up free glass for a new viv for a BIG yizzard! :D

Yep! Dat a boy, Paul! {D See those dark scales? Those are femoral pores, indicating male. And that puffy kind of pooch below his "nether region" is kind of indented right down the middle... cuz he has 2 'penes dere!

Him a BOY! ;)

Oh yeah.. and Hugo is only about 15" cuz he had a really bad start when I found him. He's another one of my rescue kids. He's almost a year, I think... got him early January and he was about 5" total length then. Hopefully, he will catch up and fill out. He's not a skinny fella at all... he just seems a little short to me.. but he PACKS away the grubbies!!

Are you getting Freckles new home ready? :D

Actually the females have the pores also, so don't base the sexing question on that alone. If I would guess by just looking at the pores on that pic I would have said female, but from the indentation it looks male. His pores probably aren't developed completely yet.

I'll have to get a pic of Pips pores if he'll hold still long enough. They are big, all along the underside of his thighs and usually excreting a waxy substance (that's a definite males sign!). I'll try to get an updated length on him too, it's been quite awhile since I measured him.

You're absolutely right about the pores being evident on the guhls... I forgot about that! But they don't OooZe like "icky" boys do {D (j/k)

Speaking of oozing...

So proud of those oozing pores..

And he is growing lengthwise. I guess I just don't notice it as much anymore since it's more gradual. He's up to 18 now.

Ah yes thanks alot you guys! I finally know now that he is 100% male! Oh wow, when could I expect my male to start "oozing"? Thanks again!

Aminah and Michelle, you guys have some gorgeous beardies! Hahaa ruba dub {D dub

My beardie has an underbite, I don't know how he got it but one morning I woke up and it was there. :( I think it may be from rubbing up against the glass.

Thank you, Paul! :D Hugo loves his bath toys! He has a boogy board and a few more floaty things, too. He's NOT spoiled! :liar:

HAHAHAHAAA!!! I just caught this... you must be out of your rabbit behind mind! {D I love Freckles... from afar... and honestly, if he ever desperately needed a loving home.. he'd absolutely have one here. But you're just fine and healthy and all is well there, so leave him where he be, woman! ;P

The big yizzard cage is for Tandoor! He needs a front loader, so he can stop running around like a wild child when I go to get him out for maintenance and check ups and stuff. Plus, I need to add onto the Lizard Lounge cuz "Bonny and Clyde" may be coming to stay... 'member? (and yes, I will be changin' those names for sure!)

Thanks Paul, Pip & my ball python are my top 2 pets. Even if he is a bit spastic most of the time. :)

Aminah, have you heard anymore about Bonnie & Clyde? I should email her and see if I can get a phone # so I can make arrangements to go get them.

Speaking of the psycho boy, I think I'll go get the kids working on supper and have some bonding time with the crazy thing.
