Bearded Dragon Setup

Searching around the forum quite a bit. notice not much pictures as compareed to spiders (duh) on thier Setups.
i just aquired a bearded Dragon semi adult. wondering if anyone can share thier ideas on thier set up? dos and donts..

got a cheap glass 2ft tank, still duno wad to use as substrate and wad to put inside..
wad i got was a bag of clean aquarium sand gravel . will that do ?
temp wise i not it must be hot/warm. do they nid humidity? dry or moist substrate?

Pictures!

Here are some pictures i took of my new pet..

after exploring its tank.. he finally decided to dig a hole right under the rock and hid under it ever since, been sleeping under the rock for about 1/2 a day already. is it normal ?

Hi Jetzie,

you may find it is hiding becasue the temperatures are too low. You need a basking spot with the temp as high as 35-40 degrees celcius (95-104F). The light you have doesnt look like it is up to the job as a basking lamp.

Also, it doesnt look like you have a UV light in there. It is absolutely essential that you get a high outout UV strip lamp otherwise your bearded dragon could suffer from metaboloc bone disease.

Nice tank for a start :)

I would also change the lighting for the reasons stated and you may find a larger tank would suit him better. Dragons love to get into the water bowl for a dip:)
I need to take a picture of my Spike and post it ...maybe in the morning too sleepy now.....

point taken! will jet off to get a basking lamp asap..

btw took this picture yesterday of him napping in his newly dug "hole"
