Ok.. So first off I am thinking about getting me a bearded dragon.. :D
But first.. I am looking at how to setup their enclosure & what not..

I found this link & I am wondering if its offering a good care sheet?

Caresheet Link

My plan is to go buy some wood, screen, & plexiglass to build a nice enclosure..

Was thinking of making it 3'x2'x2' (LxWxT).. Is this going to be big enough or should I make it a bit longer? Say 4'x2'x2'?
I am hoping a 3' enclosure will be big enough.. If not 4' it is..

Any other tips that might be handy?
Thanks! :)

*Edit* Oh.. Another question.. Ok.. If I build the enclosure.. Would it be ok to use screen on the front & top? Instead of putting in a plexiglass front.. Use screen? Or is that a bad idea?

Bearded Dragons would scratch themselves on the front wire. Most Beardie cages do have wire on the top. If you are building a cage I would go with Glass. As the plastic scratches, and they do try climbing up the front a lot. Also make sliding Glass doors on the front. So much easier to clean their tank, feed water etc. If you have small children around buy a lock from a Hardware store and put on the front. The cage size should be about 48 inches long, x 24 front to back and 24 high. So they can't get near the lights, but the lights can still give off lots of heat. Now I'm sure someone will come on and tell you I'm Wrong Lol!!!:) But from What I have read off of the Reptile forums I frequent that seems to be about the best size, and build type. Definately not wire on the front though. They'll rub their noses and end up with an infection. I don't have one, but have looked into them and thought about them a lot. Good Luck with your cage build!

For one Bearded Dragon, as an adult, a 40 breeder tank would be good. For more than one, you'll want something a little bigger. I have a pair in a 55 gallon tank. Sliding glass doors aren't necessary, but can be convenient. As hatchlings, you'll want to keep them on paper towel - it's safe for them and convenient for clean up. When they get a little bigger, you can put filtered play sand in with no problems. Definitely no wire anywhere they can reach. If you have any questions about Bearded Dragons, feel free to contact me any time. My email is mich.reptiles@gmail.com - that way you won't have to wait for me to come on the board or check Youtube ;)

PS.. check Craigslist for tanks. We've gotten MANY tanks free and some for just a few bucks. We recently got a 150 gallon tank for FREE off craigslist!

Thanks Toni!
I decided to do some minor changes to an entertainment center I have.. Its a smaller one that the TV sits on.. I was going to put screen on the top.. Do you think that is going to hurt anything?

I have tried looking on craigslist.. All I can ever find on there is a 40 gallon for $100 or somthing bigger costing more.. I can build a nice enclosure for a heck of alot cheaper..

Screen on the top is fine. Just not on the front.---They need screen somewhere ( top) as they need to breathe!!! LOL!!!:)
