If unshed skin is left on too long it can cause the end of the tail to die and fall off. You can soak him in warm water everyday to help remove the shed, you can also rub on some vitamine e oil or olive oil to help soften the old skin.

I took in a rescue dragon earliers this year and he had two layers of old shed on him, it took me four months to get all the old shed off him.

well my fiance does let him soak in the tub with luke warm water and it has not helped much we have had since he was around 4 months old he is now sub adult and it is only the last 2 inches that just seem stubborn to remove

p.s ;) i have experience with reptiles and know full well the dangers of unshed skin left on the animal and i do not want the bearded to loose ANY part of himself we keep careful eyes on him during sheds and help with his toes and spines

:? anyone ever try this oil method of helping with tough sheds? and if so what type of oils for how long and at what temps did you use them? where to find? :?

thanks for all the help and support folks:clap:

-Exotic,
Don't mean to be a jerk, but have you read the thread? People already stated that leaving unshed skin on the tail can possibly cut off circulation to that portion of the tail and cause it to die and fall off(the tail, not the lizard).

yes loss of limbs is possible when unshed skin is left on the animals body in snakes it can mean a loss of a tail tip ,a few scales and sometimes depending on severity loss of life in lizards it can take off toes ,skin protrusions i;e spines, spikes, skin folds and ornate scales sometimes with lizards having so called "eye lashes" the loss of those and possible impairment of sight resulting from infection so yes unshed skin is a VERY real and dangerous problem when dealing with reptiles and other animals ever see a pede that couldn't get 1 or 2 segments off all the way before it hardened ? rather nasty results ending with either a very taxing removal or death of the animal
