BDFBs still black

I've just received a shipment of BDFBs they are Black at moment,will they turn Blue?I have them in 20 gallon tank no lid in my bedroom only thing is humidity won't fall below 50% what can 8 do to get it down..substrate is a mix 10% eco earth 45% beardie sand and rest desert sand.any suggestions welcome

The reason they are dark as opposed to blue is due to the humidity. The blue colour comes from a waxy substance on their exoskeletons which retains moisture. They don't need to retain as much moisture when they are in a humid place and so their waxy coat is designed to thin when exposed to relatively high humidity. You could try finding a safe way to incorporate a dessication packet or humidity controlling packet. Maybe add some more sand, sorry that's probably not helpful. Have a small dish for food so the moisture from fruits and veg don't leach into the substrate.
