Before I posted, yes I did use the search function and yeilded no results. Having said that I have been trying to find information about care for the bascs lizard (little skink). I mostly keep tarantulas but a few of my buddies have peaked my interest in lizards more than just buying anoles every so often to feed my tarantulas. I saw this bascs lizard at a pet store near here that I like to frequent (they take very good care of their animals and are extremely helpful) and am interested in purchasing it. Of course I would like to know what I'm getting into before I make such a commitment. Thanks!

That is true, they definitely would know about the basic care of this animal. I should have probably asked if anyone had any information on the species itself. I have not been able to find out any information on it aside from basic care. I already went ahead and picked up the little guy and do know how to care for him, but background information is nice to know.

Any way you can post pics of the lizard? Was the lizard labeled with a scientific name? The only common name I've been able to find online that is similar to "Bascs" lizard is Boscs lizard (Savannah monitor). I think I've heard a name for a species of skink that is similar but can't find anything through Google.

The sad thing is, many shops that sell exotic reptiles have no idea how to care for them. They all too often rely on high stock turn over to sell animals before their ignorance and poor care causes its demise.

My first thought was a bosc monitor as well, but with a little search, I found that there actually is a Basc's lizard, Acanthodactylus boskianus. It is a lacertid, not a skink, from Europe. Should be fairly straight forward lizard care though. UV, basking spot, hiding areas and a small insect diet.
