Ball Python Question

Do male Ball Pythons only present mateing spurs when "sexualy mature" or are they present some time before readyness for mateing? When looking over our python today after its recent molt I noticed the spurs which I have not seen in previous inspections.

Both males and female Ball Pythons have spurs at all stages of life (they are just very small when they are young). Some people advocate that the size of the spurs is an accurate method of sexing Ball Pythons and other boids...this is simply not true.
