I just got back from a nice day at the Reptile Expo. I bought a Velvet sibling ball python male, and a Spider Sibling ball python female. If I was to breed them about how much would offspring from those two balls run do you think? And if I bred the spider sibling with another spider sibling...would that give me a few pure breed Spiders?

There are some good ball python breeding sites out there. Do a google on Ball Python Genetics and you should find plenty. Without knowing what the parents were its hard to say what you would be likely to get. This can be kind of confusing without seeing punnet squares so look up www.newenglandreptile.com or www.ballpython.ca. These have good sites that break it down good.
Have fun.

No, the offspring from that combo would be normals. Spider is a codominant trait, so there is no such thing as a heterozygous for Spider. To get more Spiders, you need a Spider to begin with. I've never heard of a "velvet" Ball though, so I can't offer any insight into that.

I posted pictures in a new thread of the two new ball pythons I got. One was labeled Black Velvet sibling male, the other I got was labeled Spider sibling female. SO it kind of confused me.....

To clear the codominate/dominate trait of spider up a bit, these are genes that show themselves if present in the snake. If the snake is only a sibling then it does not carry the trait to pass on. Whereas recessive can look normal but carry a recessive gene to pass on to offspring. Another good site is www.ralphdavisreptiles.com
