Well here goes. I previously worked at a pet store and fell in love with a ball python, life turned around and now I live where live products are hard to find. My baby ball it at least 18 inches and ONLY 55g's. She is my first snake and SUPER friendly. I can open her mouth and do anything without her being snappy AT ALL. I hate my second thread on these forums to be about feeding habits but I truly do care about my animals and I want them to survive. She has thus far REFUSED to even acknowledge frozen food. Prongs, hand fed, NOTHING has worked yet in Alberta she always seemed to feed properly albeit lethargically (on live) I have finally tracked down a breeder who can supply every size of rat for my baby. I can take any aggressiveness, agitation, or pain from my animal I just want her to eat. Before I moved from Alberta, Canada to British Columbia live mice were easy to find. The only live breeder I have found in 2 months is in B.C. is for rats. I will have a pinkie rat tomorrow, and I will attempt to feed my ball but I want to know what, if she won't take the food what I can get her. As i said, feeding her in her own home or ANYTHING including realistic amounts of money are not an object. I just want to save what I personally believe to be an amazingly fascinating animal from death.

For reference she is currently living in a 30 gallon tank. One side is non-heated, has a hide, and a fake plant that conceals roughly 25% of the surface area. The other 50% of the tank contains a very long heating cord(under substrate) , a heating pad under her 'warm' hide, and more 'fake' plants for her to hide in. She is living in coconut husk substrate, has a bathing dish that sits in the middle of her tank (big enough for at least 3 of her size), two rocks, and a third hide mad out of a plastic bowl.

Her first shed with me I had to soak her in water twice and personally shed her with my hands. I will go to many lengths for this snake. I have dreamt of owning a reptile for 16+ years and all I want to know is what I can do for my baby. Any and all help/advice is GREATLY appreciated.

Love Candice the snake and Justin her ever loving owner.

Balls are usually pretty good with taking rats. I know carpets to be a tad more picky and prefer mice. Have you tried feeding perhaps multiple smaller prey items? 2 mice pups a week will be comparable to a rat pup. If availability is the issue and you seem to be willing to go to any length, you may want toco sider breeding your own and selling your massive amounts of extras

Also if it's being as hard to feed as it seems from your post, there may be an underlying health issue you may want to get checked out RI perhaps
