The female Banded Water Snake with the badly injured snout from an accident at a reptile show miscarried her babies last night, and I found them this morning, 24, all dead, all hypo. She herself died a couple of hours later. after losing my big Northern female who'd been shot sometimes earlier this year, that was a real bummer. I guess she had developed an infection from her injury, in spite of me treating it with antibiotic ointments and Betadine, and it was just too much for her on top of the pregnancy. It really sucks losing two snakes like that within a week.

So sorry for your losses :( At least they were in wonderful hands and you did all you could, it's still never easy though.

i hope they're in snake haven along with the babies. poor lil guys, but you did what you could so dont put yourself down - just think you made their lifes a little less stressful, by helping them out.

keep up the great work

Awe, I hate when something like that happens, esp. when it seems real important and exciting. I saw two Blotched water snakes yesterday. Then on the way back by that creek, I saw a guy look down off the bridge and "jump". Haha, I knew he saw one of the snakes, dialing on his phone to tell somebody about it:rolleyes:. I always think about the pitbulllady when I see a water snake now:eek:
