backyard mantis

Every year I find a couple of these in my yard. I know the picture sucks. It's a male because he flies up to the screen so he can hang from it. I haven't got a good look at this one's underbelly, but the one I had last year that looked just like him had a red/orange spot there, so I assume this one does, too. Does anyone know the common and scientific name of it? They seem very passive for mantids, at least compared to the big, hungry, aggressive ones I found in PA and MD. This guy is just 3" long and I don't think he'll get much bigger. Oh...I'm in AZ.
