So I got this little peppermint (I think) Pac-Man frog the size of a quarter maybe a tiny bit bigger anyways the first night I got her I fed her 2 small crickets and she ate them. Well it’s been 2 days and she’s completely buried and im thinking I should unbury her to feed her a nightcrawler piece but if it’ll stress her out too much then i won’t.
tank size: 5.5 gallon (TEMPORAR)
heating source: mini heat emitter
warm side: 82 f
cool side: 73-75 f
lots of pothos so she can hide and no supplemental lighting besides natural daytime sunlight and my room light sometimes

It's been years since I've kept any of these, but if I remember correctly mine were always very good about sensing prey moving and coming out to eat. If you know where it's buried in there, just drop the worm nearby and it should pop out and grab it. I usually used feeders that moved around a lot but don't burrow, like crickets or roaches, because they trigger a stronger feeding response. Also, a 5.5 gallon enclosure is too large for that little guy - the opportunities for predator/prey interaction are less likely in large enclosures. Something no more than half that size would be better.

How moist is the substrate, how deep and what type are you using? (A pic of the enclosure will be helpful if possible). I like to start off small froglets in smaller containers such as a 2.5 gallon until they’ve put on some size and I know they are feeding well. A 5 gallon is doable, but I would consider downsizing for the time being. If you are concerned, yes -you can very gently bring it up and see if it will feed. Every frog is different and some need some extra TLC to get them going. I have one that’s a very aggressive eater and another that will only feed if assisted.
