Woohoo! Congrats. i have have been toying with the notion of getting a pair myself. Such awesome little snakes. Are they handlable at all or just a display critter?

They are the most handleable snake Ive ever had experience with!!! My husband calls them "noodles with eyes" They are content to just hang out in your hands. Not like corn snakes that always have somewhere to go. Kenyans are mellow. (Im sure there are exceptions)

I took the babies to Ric Blair and he sexed them for me (I dont dare pop them and I have no probes) I have 7 females and 5 males!! Not too bad a ratio! I got them all to eat frozen thawed pinkies and they've all successfully shed :D:D Been a good week.
Now I have to take individual pics to post :D Some of them have the most amazing pattern variants. Wish I could keep em all!!

Congratulations! Are they sexable via spur presence/size at birth, or at any size? I've never had any, but I'm into rubber boas, so naturally I think Kenyans are cool. ;)

Sexing boids using their spurs as an indicator is an unreliable method. Probing is the most reliable way to sex just about any snake. I've seen male Boas/Pythons with very small spurs, and females with very large ones.

Ric tried sexing by the spurs at first. I cant tell that way, my adult females spurs are as pronouced as my adult males. He then tried probing which worked better. Then he tried popping them and that worked as well as the probing.
When we tried the "spur" sexing, we got most of them wrong :D So as David says Probing is the best way.

Defour- I love rubber boas too!! Theyre the coolest feeling snake! They just dont feel real! We have them wild around here. Its fun to go up flipping rocks and finding these neat critters!

From what I've heard, rubber boas can be definitively sexed via spurs; apparently that's not the boid norm . ;) My female has no sign of spurs. I'd love to breed her, but she's turning out to be pretty unusual and I'd like to find a similar male to match her up with. She's from Nevada, but the specific locality is unknown. I grew up in Wyoming, but never got around to getting to the boa habitat. I intend to do that next time I'm home.
