baby crickets hatching in terrarium. could they hurt the spider??

i just noticed that there are a bunch of baby crickets that just started hatching in my b. vagans terrarium!... i was wondering if they could hurt my spider in anyway.

No, not really. I suppose they might be able to if your tarantula should molt and they decide to have a nibble, but I wouldn't worry (unless its actually molting). Just keep it dry; they'll die out or drown in the water dish.

Personally I will dump the sub and start new when I discover a cricket farm. I just don't like them taking over. No real harm will be done by them I don't think.

I have heard a myth that baby crickets can and often attempt to eat tarantulas eyes when in the same tank..... but my source is a local petshop employee..... not so much a credible source I should think!

It happened to me once when I first started keeping tarantulas. They all drowned in the water dish.

they will die out quickly with out a food source. to prevent it happening again make sure you cut the black tube sticking out of the cricket end.

i've seen pictures of reptiles with damaged eyes etc... from crickets.

Well seeing as I have my own cricket colony I avoid this by only feeding the males to the t's who don't kill and eat instantly and the surplus females only to the more voracious eaters.
