don't have a photo of them but they look like small beans and are dark brown, you can't miss them

well I don't know what an english or a sweet pea looks like but in case you see something that resembles a bean, then its an ootheka.

They are usualy "glued" to their hides

If what you have found is not something that you have added to the container and it looks like it could come from inside a roach then there aren't too many options as to what it could be.;-)

Just want to mention, the species is no longer Blatta lateralis, but Shelfordella tartara again.

I hate it when they change the names like that. It makes things so confusing!

Well it didn't really change name. It was all just a big mistake. Shelfordella tartara was properly described over a hundred years ago if im not mistaking. I don't remember who made the mistake last time, by describing it as Blatta lateralis. (As usual I lost my papers and thereby the evidence, but it should be out there on the web somewhere :p)

Yes you're right Steffen. It seems they've always been called Shelfordella in most of Europe and that the Americans have picked up on the Blatta. It's too bad because B. lateralis is certainly easier for me to spell.

Well actually they were called Blatta lateralis for a few months here also. But that changed about 2-3 months ago. The important things, we all got it right now. :D

Can someone tell me how long the egg case is supposed to stay attached to the female's rear? Im thinking there might be a problem, but can't seem to find out one way or another using the search or google.
