I'm starting to run out of the roach chow that I was provided by Jamies Tarantulas for my red runners. Could I possibly give them some of my dog's food? I'll include a picture of the bag of food. It's Purina's PRO Plan rice and salmon recipe. I have heard of other keepers feeding their roaches pet food, I just didn't know if eating this specific food could have any negative repercussions for my tarantulas. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Any protein-based pet food will work along with fresh produce, although mine usually get old carrot or apple peels and cores

I have two colonies of roaches, B.lateralis and B.dubia.

Fresh Food
Romain Lettuce
Orange Slices (I see improved breeding with Orange Slices)

Prepared Food
Flake Fish Food (I ordered a 2 lb tub from Amazon. They really seem to like the red flakes, as they disappear first)
Non-Medicated Chick Feed (This will come as a crumble or pellet. I grind this into a powder and then store it back into the bag it came in. I ordered a 3 lb bag on Amazon)

That's a high end type of dog food, right? I wouldn't use that for the roaches, just buy the cheapest one you can find. It's not because the roaches aren't "worthy" but it doesn't really make a difference for them, eating the stuff that most other creatures won't eat is what they do in the ecosystem. Make sure you also provide them some fruits and veggies (these can also be left-overs from what you eat like cucumber or potato peel, watermelon rind etc.)

I use a 2:1 mix of unmedicated chick feed and fish flake but I have used cheap dog food in the past without issue.

I'd check the nutritional info bit on the bag, you don't want to give them too much protein as the uric acid build-up can kill them (especially males), I think you have to get close to 50% protein for that to happen though.
