I have around 100 adults and 1000 nymphs. My problem with them is feeding. I see video's on you tube and they go nuts at feeding time, I never saw mine feeding! I was leaving food in their rubbermaid 24/7 but I've just opted to no longer do that. I'm having problems with flys, maggots, and roaches. I'm considering feeding 3 days a week. I'll put food in at night and leave it in overnight then take anything uneatten out. Leave the bin food free for a night or 2 then put more in. I think this would help with the problems I'm having. I don't use water crystals currently I had been using patato's which worked well but I'm now having maggot problems after only a few days of them being in the bin. I'm going to switch to carrots and see how things go. Again I'm not planning on leaving them in 24/7 due to the problems I've had. Any suggestions/tips? I thought this was going to be easy....but noooo....lol! I have my adults seperated but havent found any little ones yet. humidity is great and temps are currently around 83-85. I'm going to get some heat tape to get the temps up but for now that's where they are at. Looking forward to hearing about some different approaches. These are kept in my garage.

i leave food in my bin 24 7, dry mix (dog or cat food mix) carrots and water jelly. i give them oranges every other day. the temp is fine i doint think you need to bump that up at all. you said that the humidity is great? something i dont even worry about, as long as they have a water source they will be fine. also i dont separate the adults from nymphs, i do how ever take some of the males and put the in a small kk in the roach bin, and only keep a few males in with the rest. as far as the pests go all you need to do is a good cleaning and put pantie hose over the screen and hot glue it, make sure you have plenty of ventilation. my temp is around 78 and my colony is blowing up. no mold, flies, maggots or any other crap that shouldnt be in there. hope this helps

Among other things you should go to www.roachforum.com

..but all that aside, dont raise the temps as they are perfect where they are. Dont feed potatos. These things are easy and dont make it harder that it is. Feed them once a week for starters, more often once they start to take off. Give them carrots apples dog/cat/fish food and leave it at that. If you fool with them too much you will only slow the process more. Slight neglect can bring wonderous results... and dont separate anything out, just leave them be in one big group.
