I have two types of avics, so when I read the title of your post I was curious because I havent seen this name/type used before. So I decided to research a little for you.

This is from Eight: A Site About Tarantulas and says that Avicularia Velutina may be the same as Avicularia Avicularia.

http://tarantulas.differentdawn.com/general/species.html

I found another site that called them "Trinidad Pinktoe" and said they were from Trinidad. Then another that called them "Brown Banded Pinktoes" and said they were from Venezula.

In the pictures that Google comes up with, they look exactly like A. Avics, so here's are some A. Avic care sheets:
http://www.petbugs.com/caresheets/A-avicularia.html
http://www.arachnophiliac.com/burrow/caresheets/avicularia_avicularia.htm

This is another care sheet. It lists their lifespans as 8-9 years for females and 3 years for males.

They are exactly the same as avicularia avicularia and if you buy one you could end up paying more because its a 'rare name' but you are really just getting avic avic.So life span will be the same!;) :D :)

They are described as different species,i just think they are regional variants of Avic Avic, just like i think Avic Geroldi is a colour varient of Avic avic!If someone Revised the Avicularia genus we would loose alot of this so called species!

I also believe that Avicularia juruensis,Aurantiaca, ulrichea and urticans are all regional and colour varients of each other!

But until something is done about it,we are always going to have problems with this species!

I just ordered one, so I don't care if it's an A. avic. It didn't cost much, but I keep T's just because I enjoy them. This will be yet another personality to join my collection. It will be interesting to see the differences between the two. My adult female is beautiful....!

Your over a decade late to this velutina party.
The price difference was probably a lot more ten years ago.
Also, I do agree with what Aviculariinae posted about them being regional variants of A. avic.
