With the Avicularia genus revision of 2017, what are we calling Avicularia geroldi now?

Disregard the title of this thread. I'm thinking it's Avicularia avicularia morphotype # 3 (ex-A. velutina). Is this correct? Thanks!

Nope....morphotype #6 is the tarantula formerly known as metallica.

I dont recall which morphotype geroldi is now...4 I think, but dont quote me on that....@CEC or @Cassiusstein would probably know though.

I thought velutina was now what was formerly amazonica.

Correction. I just looked at the revision of 2017. I'm thinking it's morphotype # 3.

A. "velutina" is blue-green like A. "geroldi".

Nah. "Amazonica" is now Avicularia variegata morphotype 1 (Manaus locality).

We still call them Avicularia geroldi or Avicularia avicularia "geroldi" because
no one knows really... None of the morphotype color descriptions exactly match hobby geroldi and a few morphotypes are recorded near their type locality. Therefore, I'd like to see hobby material's urticating setae examined to confirm their morphotype.

The limited distribution for M#3 (Venezuela) and M#5 (Bolivia) are quite far away from the type locality in Brazil. So I have doubts that they are either of those. Locality wise, it is much more plausible they're M#1, M#2, M#6 or M#7. In addition, appearance (setae structure) wise, hobby geroldi are more likely a variant of M#1 or M#2, if even one of the 7 morphotypes recorded at all. Of course, all my assumptions are based on hobby material being what Tesmoingt described and collected in or near the type locality.

Check out the geographical distribution of the morphotypes here:

Thanks! We can go with Avicularia sp. "geroldi" until this is clarified.
