In Poecilotheria post about Avic's growth rate he made this comment " bicegoi(like i'll ever find one lol," makes it sound like they are almost impossible to find? How true is that? Just wondering because I would like to get one. I found one but had to pass it up because I already went over my T budget at the time :( Now I am thinking that I should have picked it up. I will have to try and get back in touch with that person and see if it is still there if so. Thanks in advance for all replies, Greg

Seems like anyone that has one is holding on to them. I haven't seen any advertised for months now. I have posted in the wanted section of this site and others hoping someone had one for sale, but got nothing.

This seems to be the most rare and hard to get of all the Avic's.

Good luck finding one, I will keep an eye out also. Did that person have just one?

I am hoping to get one because I have most of the Avic's, but this one I do not have.

Called up the guy right after I got home from work on sunday asked if he had any left? Yes 3 of them, so now he is down to two, two of them were about 1-1/2" to 2" the last one little smaller maybe 1" to 1-1/4" Looks pretty much like the rest of the little PT's with the little tigerstripe rump, Will post picture soon

Bearskin,
Is the guy a breeder, could you PM me and let me know the details. Does he have any more or plan on it in the future?

The correct link for the german site is this:
http://www.vogelspinnenwelt.de/arten2.htm#avibicegoi
I'll translate it quickly, hope you are interested:

Avicularia bicegoi is one of the most beautiful Avicularia species.
It is a relatively big und friendly T that not or seldom tends to jump. Adults do not eat too much. It is essential to watch and control the right humidity (not wetness!). They are predominantly nightactive. Due to her similarity to Avicularia huriana they are often took for each other. The size of the female shown in the picture is not shown to avantage. The T has a body length of 7cm.

Hope that helps,

Cheers
Chris

I just wanted one of these for their attitude I read.

Hey SpiderTwin I noticed that all the A. Bicegoi are gone from that site. Was just wondering if you got one?

I'm really thinking of getting one of these once I have some cash that I just don't need for anything else. They really are quite gorgeous!

Ya, I talked to the guy and actually got his last one, he said he was taking them down from the site just after talking to me.

Actually nemesis6sic6 helped me out also and it ended up being the same guy you were both talking about. Thanks to both of you for all your help:)

Bearskin10, are they definately the bicegoi? I'm not doubting you, just that spider was sold to me as "white-toe" (I assumed A.Metallica?). Turns out I'm in the Bicegoi club due to someones bad labelling;)

Oh my spider is about 1.5" legspan, and is DEFINATLEY the same spider, down to the abdominal markings and the distinct leg colouration....

Well, diefiler to answer your question I very much trust who I bought the Bicegoi from so I know he would not mismark it. He did not breed them himself so if the breeder pull a switch on him. I would highly doubt that also though. I do know that a lot of the Avic. S'lings do look very muck alike though. I don't have a A. metallica so I don't know what they look like But my guess is that it would look very much like this one does as I know My A. Avic. my A. bicegoi and my A. Minatrix all look very much alike. My A. Versicolor has same markings but is blue and my A. Purpurea also same markings but kind of grayish white. Maybe someone else will chime in and give a better answer, but if you did get a Bicegoi I would have to say good for you as they are worth a little more then the metallica and also a lot harder to find.

Thanks,

Well mine is definately the same as the picture you posted, I'm saving for a camera so I should get a picture within a few weeks if you remember to check back when I update (Though I'd probably post it in a new thread with a few of my other lovelies:))

Yeah, this is a spiderling of the metallica - most definately not the same appearance as the bicegoi is it :) Thanks for your information, and the picture you posted

EDIT: I've just recieved a pricelist, and a reputable dealer is selling spiderlings of A.Metallica, so I'll buy one and compare them
