I just encountered pics of this T for the first time on AB. OMG. Soooo cool. Why is no one selling them in the classifieds? Or are they but they are under a different name? So far I've only found out that they were discovered by Mello-Leitão, during 1923 in Brazil.

Does anyone have one of these? Do you know if they are hard to breed or acquire captive born? Are their numbers stable in the wild? Are they more common in Europe?

Any info would be a appriciated. Here is the add for a pic of one:

If ur not willing to venture outside of AB here is a juv:

Thanks

My male went out on loan a while back and both females he bred with produced sacs. Now it's just a waiting game, so we'll see.

That's good to hear xhexdx. I've been keeping eyes open for some slings of this sp myself. They can be pretty pricey but hopefully when those sacs hit the market I can swing 2 or 3...

FYI gbbgirl, Avicularia tend to have pretty small eggsacs so it seems (to me, anyway) that getting a newer species established in the trade isn't as easy as say, brachypelmas who can have as much as 10x as many eggs. On the flip side avics do grow much faster...

Hey bob, that girl looks pretty big. I thought bicegoi's were small, little avics. Do they get up around 6"-7" like metallica's do?

Nah they aren't small... They do get rather large... I haven't ever measured her but I would say about 6"-7"

Unfortunately as with many avics. A bicegoi is another controversial T and when you search images or check forums you will see many differing versions of A. bicegoi.

It seems here in Europe that the term 'Pet Trade bicegoi' is more often used than '100% bonafide bicegoi' Thereafter no one really seems definate about
exactly what denotes bicegoi.

But if you are not too fussy, you should be able to get yourself a very pretty, very fluffy spider.

If anyone could explain exactly what characteristics confirms this species, i would be very interested.

Heres mine . . .

Good Luck

IZAN, 'pet trade biceogi' should be the name used, it covers the controversy well:clap:

I'll be happy with a fuzzy T with a red rump and yellow bands on its legs, I'm not too picky!!!

From what I've read, some people confuse them with the "Peru purple". That species seems more common, the pet shop I work at carries those slings, I believe. Both are super cute, and will hopefully join my other kids in my t collection, someday.

I personally think Bicegoi's are hideous out of the Avicularia genus. I love the A. Minatrix though I used to have one, small but absolutely stunning when the light hits their color.
