A thread where I will upload my photos of my Australian millipedes for the viewing pleasure of overseas people. Unfortunately, our millipede hobby here is virtually non-existent however, but I have lots of species I keep.
A poor photo of Somethus castaneus, a small, potentially threatened species from a small area in South Australia. Up until a few months ago when I sold some of these, I was the only one with these in captivity, so they're pretty special. Even as adults these millipedes are white in colour, sometimes with a brownish head. These millipedes produce Hydrogen cyanide as a defence mechanism Screen Shot 2022-07-13 at 11.56.56 am.png

Very cool! It's always a treat to see Australian species.

How did you ID the Trigoniulus?

Thanks,
