I just got 7 Black Rock Scorpions and I would like to know if I'm keeping them right, it's the first time I've ever kept scorpions so if anyone knows anything about them please post. :)

Please, try to use latin names. Maybe at first it looks more complicated, but for sure it's more unambiguous. Until now I had no idea that Urodacus manicatus is called "Australian Black Rock Scorpions" :)

Care sheet mentioned above looks fine. You can also find some info about this and other Australian scorpions in book "A Guide to Keeping Australian scorpions in Captivity" by Mark Newton. Great book by the way!

Sorry about that, the latin names were just confusing me though... ;)

Does anyone know what to feed them, I cant go out to buy crickets so I'll have to be able to find the bugs or whatever they eat at the forest behind my house.

I have no idea what kind of insects are available in Australian pet trade, but you should try to find roaches. They as good as crickets, and even easier to breed and maintain.

In the natural environment scorpions feen on grasshoppers, termites, moths, flies, and any other arthropods which they are able to catch. They're not very choosy.

Good luck with this scorpion, nice species you have there in Australia, too bad not available here in Europe :)

Of course they are poisonous. They have venom, not dangerous for a human, but it's still a poison. In general I believe adult ones are more poisonous than young, they have more venom to apply. Just check on the "Sting reports" section and you will notice that adults can be more harmful.

I believe about Urodacus spp. not being harmful for human, and about adult and young relations for all the scorpions species. And what were you asking for?

All scorpion venom is toxic to one degree or another. I think the point Falk is trying to make is that
poison is ingested while venom is injected. Thus, scorpions are venomous rather than poisonous.

Oh, ok, didn't understood what you meant at first. Of course you're guys right, sorry for a mistake. Anyways I've seen word "poisonous" connected to scorpions in a few publications written by a serious scorpionologists, so I guess it may happen when English isn't your mother tongue ;)

I found a kind of fat, white grub under a rock a few seconds ago, would it be safe to feed this to my scorps?
