Has anybody been to the Audubon Insectarium in New Orleans that just opened last week? A few years ago I visited the Insectarium de Montreal, which gets 400,000 visitors per year. It was AWESOME...besides insects, many arachnids including tarantulas! The New Orleans Insectarium was modeled after its Montreal counterpart. If it is half as good, it will be worth it.

I am planning a road trip to New Orleans next weekend, and I will be visiting the Insectarium. Anybody that has been there, any feedback would be appreciated. Burbon Street at night, Insectarium by day, it doesn't get any better that that! {D

Kid Dragon,

Oh, you NEED to go! They have made a really nice place over there. We went for the "gala" event a few weeks ago. You can park behind the Insectarium and walk over. There is a pay lot that looks right at the back of the building.

Steven

P.S.: Watch out for the trap-door spider !!

Steven,

I'm looking forward to it. What species of Ts did they have on display?

Sorry, don't know my T's but I'm pretty sure they have at least an Indian Ornamental and Aphonopelma hentzi (local). I can tell you they have: Atlas, frog, stag and flower beetles. Also have widows, velvet ants, phasmids, leaf-cutter ants, roaches and millipedes.
