Martin, so were these picures taken as part of breeding attempts? If so do you have pictures of the respective females and/or the breeding attempts.

hehe I love that little orange cutie. Gotta get one some day, but the screening I'd need to get must be kinda hard to find....

Why do you need screening, Adults are small enough that a deli cup will be more than enough room

My understanding is that the colormorph, of the C.elegans shown, is from Tobago or Trinidad. I picked up 4 from Martin and they were so small that one of them would have fit in the loop of the 6 on your key board. They are a hardy species and after a couple of molts mine are showing their adult colors at 1/4 inch. They are intricate burrowers that have many tunnels in their 8 dram vials.

:) I see David....that was a misunderstanding though, someday(in the past)talking to Martin, he meant some sp from northern Brazil so i figure it would be one of these.....but i also know that he was doing researches along these islands too..take care.

I guess with T males it's not the size that counts :)
I definitly love C. elegans, that's a species that I've wanted to add to my person collection and breeding attempts for quite some time, only problem is they are $$$!
Great pics!

Mori, no the pictures were not taken when breeding attempts were made... although I have another male H. villosella living with the female since last week... there was a really long nuptial dance, and then I was really tired after an hour and a half... I decided to go to bed, I am hoping they did mate... the male being still alive is probably a good sign... the C. elegans, well, he will meet females soon... and the other tiny bugger... I have no female for him...

Gustav, long time no speak, sorry, I do not go on MSN too often these days, I hope all is well for you... and as David mentionned, they are not the same animals...

Martin, no problem, he is yours... I will contact you in private... I am curious though, are the males and females sexually dimorphic as far as size goes for Plesiophrictus spp.? I am just wondering if I have to expect the "possible" female to be roughly the same size when mature, or they get bigger?... I was really surprised to see the male being mature, I did not expect that at all, but then again, I know nothing about that genus!... I only had two specimens of those, maybe the other one is a female...

Take care all

Martin

Hi Martin,

I was really surprised to see the male being mature,
I know this effect very good. I was also very surprised when my H. villosella male matured. (BTW: can you also preserve it in alcohol - mine was eaten by my female *grr#@%*)
