Just thought I'd show some pics of some new stuff and some of my older scorps too.

Here's my female P. transvaalicus. I just got a m/f pair but only the female was willing to be photographed. The male went straight into his new hide and there he remains.

Dave or John, (or anyone for that matter, lol)
Think she's gravid? Either that or I have the biggest couch-potato P. trans ever known! How's the set-ups look? Please, any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Here's her new territory. The male is in pretty much the same set up as well.

Hey Risto. Yep, that's exactly where I got the enclosure. They're pretty nice for the cost, huh?

See ya.

Atrax, what is the substrate for your p. transv.? Is it sand mixed with something?

Hi Frank. I mixed in a bit of peat, maybe 15-20%. Will this harm the scorps?

Wow, you ask me a question, I think you know way more than me about scorps ;) It just looked weird that somebody that has experience likes you asks me something about scorps :)

I just wanted to know as it didn't look like plain sand. Is peat with sand helping the strenght of the burrows?

LOL. Well, to be honest, I'm really new with Parabuthus too. My theory behind the peat was to possibly help the sand bond a bit. Also, I thought the higher acidity can't hurt either. Mostly, I thought it added a little nicer color/texture than just plain sand.

See ya.

I'm just totally new to scorps, I got my first scorp only 14 months ago.

Give me news if it really helps bonding the sand together.

She looks like she might have 50-some little ones any day for you! How in the world does she manage to move that bulk around to capture prey? I imagine you can find slides where she has to drag that belly along :p

But, everything looks really great for you scorps and I'm sure they are quite happy. Though the mom to be might be really testy with you once they are born.
