nice pics

nice pics, ive always wanted to take care of assassin bugs. are they hard to keep? I thought they needed a high humidity from the pics they looked kinda dry though. also where abouts did you get yours.

they do need higher humidity,this pic was taken right before i sprayed the cage.and they were gotten on ab for sale list.and yeah they are real easy to keep,also great fun to watch

I was under the impression that they require low humity and that high humidity can wipe them out quickly.

They need it quite dry but a mist now and then is ok. The only time moisture is really needed is when getting eggs to hatch, and when getting females to lay. Females will lay even in dry substrate but prefer a moist spot. If kept in high humidity they have trouble sheding and dont always feed well.
As for the noise, they make that when they feel attacked. Wheel bugs make sounds all the time, normally when a male is trying to mount a female. And the males are always trying to mount the females! lol
So Andy, where did you get your bugs? :} Heh Heh Heh...

Adults can live up to two years after reaching maturity. Most take 6-9 months to reach maturity.
