yeah, they are awesome, i had a colony of them years back, and oh yeah thee spraying....one of them was hiding behind the corkbark and i got sprayed right in the eye:eek: man did it hurt for quite awhile!kept washing my eye out, finally after about 2hrs the pain subsided, but my eye was blood shot till the next day,i think they can spray in different directions,i would'nt want to find out:wall: but they are really cool bugs, easy to breed, and live together if fed well, good luck with yours.

Nice Pic
I heard that assassin bugs can cause temporary loss of vision, anyone know if this is true? Either way I'd still like to get some.

I've got something of a colony of biguatta's going and the adults spit readily if I try to dissassemble their bark-pile home. I've been lucky enough that I've only been caught on the arm by it so I can't comment on the effects on mince-pies.

I've heard that the bite is incredibly painful as well, though mine seem quite shy prefering to return to cover than fight 'the hand'.

They are great little creatures. Yesterday I found a somewhat lame locust in my leo's tank and decided to move it before it went to waste so I put it in the assassins tank. The impressive thing about these guys is the way they'll work together to overpower something that's too big for one as was the case this time. I left the room for five minutes and came back to find the unfortunate locust being eaten by three adults and one sub-adult. I imagine this is the sort of thing the Romans felt feeding people to lions, fascination with a slight guilty enjoyment.

Yes, she is a P. mombo and I think it's just the angle of the camera cause she looks bigger in the pic than she really is. She's only about an inch maybe a tad bit more.

i suffered a serious wound from getting bit by one..a black corsair.
it ran up my forceps and nailed me right on the thumb..i am here to tell you..it made me squeal like a girl..it hurt sooo bad..lol.
it throbbed for days, and eventually rotted out a quarter inch circle in my thumb, that took months to heal.
wont be doing that again.!{D
