Hello, I caught a wild assassin bug about a month ago. it was about an inch long, was black, and had a spiked wheel crest on its thorax. Well, I found it dead in its keeper today, but was delighted to find several eggs in the cage. I was just wondering what to do with them to ensure safe hatching (also the same with a praying mantis)

You can leave the egss in the tank and keep the substrate moist, or, you can put them in a small plastic container, along with some substrate, which you also keep moist.

Sounds like it was a wheel bug. They attach their eggs to objects so you probably just want to hatch them in their tank like MacLeod said.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. Wheel bug, huh? Looks like I still need a lot of things lol. How long does it take them to hatch usually?

It is best to keep them in the container that the eggs were originally deposited in, as MacCleod and Navaros said. The wheel bug, or wheel assassin, (Arilus cristatus) is the largest (up to around 1.5") assassin bug (Heteroptera: Reduviidae) species native to the U.S., commonly characterized, from a distance, by having a spiny, wheel-like crest protruding from the thorax and having an, overall, dark grey color.
