Are roaches lactose intolerant?

I know this sounds like a silly question but; are they? The reason for this question is I can't remember reading anywhere either here, books or elsewhere on the internet concerning diet about giving them any dairy products. I recently bought some cheese sticks and they were pretty awful so I was thinking about feeding them to my roaches. I want to make sure they won't have any ill effects on them, if you know what I mean :8o, before I feed it to them. Any comments?

I think it's gonna be a lot easier if you try it and then tell us all the results in a week or so ;)

But to be honest, I doubt they are...

I would say it is ok, although if they don't eat it your house might stink. My suriname colony became the dumping hole for any bad cooking over the holidays this year.

I do remember seeing a gutload formula consisting powdered milk. Can't remember if that's for crix or roaches though, but I guess roaches won't get diarrhea after having too much dairy products... ;)

Well I gave my biggest colony of roaches (1,000 or so Lobsters) some of the cheese (about 2oz or less) and after 6 hours it is still sitting there. I watched them and they would walk up to it, taste it and walk away. I guess they didn't like it anymore than I did. This is the same colony that will devour a whole unpeeled apple in about an hour. So I guess the question should have been: Will roaches eat cheese?

I guess so.

Another thing you might not wanna try is uncooked spagetti. My colony of dubias has refused to touch the stuff. But I bet they'd been nibbling on cooked ones!
