Michaels $3.52

Stuff laying around the house.

Tape 3 sides and top.

Mark locations of holes.

Ready to drill.

Drilling.

Remove tape.

Install stick

This was the only wire tie laying around. I could have used glue but this way I can remove and clean. I will pick up smaller ties next home depot run.

All done.

Opps, forgot the hinge. No clear tape will add that to list.

Access without messing with my T.

Total time about an hour.

Are my holes too big? I struggle with proper ventilation but I also would hate myself if it got hurt. Currently exploring new home and has yet attempted to stick a foot out. What do you think?

your set up looks very nice! i have something similar for my versi sling also. the only reason i'd say the holes are a bit large, is that small crickets could squeeze through, and get loose in your house. i had the same thoughts about mine, so i put some tape over the larger ones near the substrate where crickets could crawl. you can buy very fine mesh in different colors at a store that sells fabrics...or more heavy duty screen at a hardware store.

it'll poke a foot or pedipalp thru the holes exploring... as long as you made sure there are no sharp burrs or anything, no worries

That last picture makes the holes look bigger then they really are. I used a 5/32 drill bit. I am not too concerned about the crickets as they will just join the old dried up crickets under the bed :D .

Cleaned the holes so there should be nothing too sharp. I'm still concerned a little but so far so good. I may look for the mesh so I can sleep at night.

Thanks for the comments.

The only issue is that T's have this strange habit to dangle one leg out of holes that are big enough. I've had this happen a few times. It's not a real huge issue unless something happens to make them lose their footing and essentially hang from the leg out of the hole (never had this happen) So if you see this happening just be extra cautious when moving the enclosure so as to not knock the T off.

Your hole size is fine for the size of that T(which is very nice by the way.) My suggestion is to take a bigger drill bit and spin it over both sides of each hole. This will perfectly take the burs off and give you a nice concaveness. I just made that last word up:liar: . At any rate do that and no one but you, your avic, and us will know you drilled them yourself.

Concaveness? I like that word. I will try your idea and see if it works.
