My 1/2" A.Metallica mostly don't climb the walls of its container it mostly stays on the ground. About a high up it will go is on top of is Vial that I have in its container. With it being a Avic I figured it would be Aboreal like my versi who hardly ever touches the ground.

I found that my all my aboreals from Avics to Pokies sometimes spend much of their time at ground level rather than climbing at young ages(slings especially). Some even preferred to burrow rather than climb. My P.rufilata was a burrower for the longest time.I have a 1/4+" A.metallica presently who's also spending a lot of time on the substrate. As they get bigger they tend to start spending more and more time climbing and eventually will be strictly aboreal.Nothing unusual....peace...

At one time I had a batch of A. avicularia slings from an eggsack. It was weird for me to see some of them just sitting on the substrate, but probably about 20% of them did. As time went on, most of them built a web and got off of the substrate.

Who knows, it might build a web for its molt and end up using it to hang out in. But for sure, it won't stay on the substrate as it matures.

Pelo mentioned pokies doing this too. My P. formosa spends half its time laying on webbing she has laid on the substrate.

I have about 50 A versicolor slings, and some of them spend most of their time on the substrate instead of webbing.
My P formosa also stays on the ground most of the time, and has built a little shelter at the base of his cork bark

My 3/4" P.regalis as well as my 3/4" P. Irminia both spend significant amounts of time hiding under the edges of their cork bark at ground level. I even saw my P.regalis do a little digging to make more room to squeeze under. Both spend time climbing their cork barks and the sides of their enclosures but it's got to be about 50/50 split for arboreal vs terrestrial behavior at this point. I'm looking forward to them putting some size on so that they'll spend more time stretched out against the bark so they can be seen easier.
