I would think as a temporary cage the bigger one would work better. It's not going to retain any heat so make sure you have a good heat source for it to bask under.

Really iguanas are pretty easy. Provide a good heat source and UV bulb and a good diet with quality supplements like Repashy. Happy to hear you're rescuing this animal.

Since it is about 1.5 feet long. Could it be ventrally sexed at this point. Every book I’ve read said that aside from physical characteristics and probing, they can be sexed similar to leopard geckos.

I don't know if it would be old enough to be vented, but sexual dimorphism is very apparent in iguanas and easily recognized.

Personally I would go bigger, maybe get a wooden custom made enclosure. You could even make it yourself.

Here is the iguana I will be getting. Any idea on the gender just based on possible sexual dimorphism. 92C9739D-4423-40C1-8EA4-A8EAFFD52321.png

I can't say for certain based on the age and that photo. Have you looked at the femoral pores or checked for hemipene bulges at the base of the tail?

I woild be concerned about injury if the iguana bolts while its leg is in between the bars. That cage is not designed for a tropical lizard. Its clearly marketed for a small mammal. You can provide better, and cheaper, building your own.
