hey I don’t talk in here but does something look wrong with my Aphonopelma chalcodes? she hasn’t eaten in like 2 years maybe like 3 crickets total since I got her ): not sure if she looks like she’s going to die. she hasn’t molted since I got her from my friend who passed, because they had no one else to give her to. she’s a couple years old. her enclosure is pretty airy and dry.

animals that are fatter than Jupiter don’t eat, except humans

I had a T not that fat stop eating for over 1.5 yrs, and it’s not a hunger strike!

That's a super plump T ! As @viper69 mentioned, it won't need to eat again until it molts. Whenever that will be. Make sure there's clean water available at all times. One morning, you'll find this one in a brand new suit. Give it a couple of weeks to harden up, then feed sparingly. 1-2 crix a month is probably plenty. Chalcodes are known to fasting spells. Don't worry about it. All you can do is have water available and wait.

It is on the heavier side of the balance 🤣

it does not look like its dieing. its important the substrate is high enough. At that size, a fall can be fatal. It can also hurt itself trying to squeeze between objects.

booty proof the enclosure if its not.

thats about all you can do right now.

like @LucN said, water is important.

if you do not have a moist corner, it would not hurt.

i can assure you, you don’t have to buy any feeders for a while.

My adult A. chalcodes hasn't eaten for well over a year and she's fine. As others have said, yours is fat and looks just fine 🙂

I'm struggling to understand why it never stopped eating way before now, honestly never seen a T as fat.
Maybe it was depressed.

*sarcasm*

its funny how some of oor tarantulas will just keep eating. We all know the risks of overfeeding…

i have some that i could still feed, and they would eat. Everyone has been put on diet for weeks, in my coven.

i won’t be buying any feeders for any of them, until they molt. They are saf and greedy.

i even fridged my meaworm farm, and froze my superworms. The feeders were costing me too much too feed!
