Mine have started engaging in mating behavior but I'm having a hard time finding anything about the process and what conditions they prefer for all this. Not sure now if it's worth worrying about but I wish I knew more about them. Lots of stuff about the blue death feigning beetles but it doesn't seem like the black df are as popular.

It seems no one has answered this post, so... In the 1980s, a researcher (Rolf Aalbu) was able to get more than half of the 15 known species of Cryptoglossini to produce either eggs or larvae in captivity, including C. variolosa. The same methods for BDFB work for that part of the rearing. So far, no one has reported success beyond larvae for C. variolosa. The best thing to do is follow those methods and do some experimentation. Also check out invertebratedude.com as they have been very successful with multiple species.
