I have been using this yellow brand for quite time now, feeding to my feeder roaches and feeding the roaches to my inverts. It is calcium-fortified, however. I know too much calcium can be bad for inverts, but I never seem to have had any problems with feeding my roaches this stuff and then my pets.

Would you guys also use this stuff or should I throw it away. If needed, can I discard it and just more frequently feed my roaches moist food (like fruits and wet cat food) until I can find a brand of water gel that isn't "calcium-fortified?"

To me this stuff is a joke. I used it for crickets and it costs so much at agway and dries up so fast. Just my opinion.

Are you talking about the orange cubes that are supposed to be food and water?
I tried to use them once when I was still feeding crickets and they wouldn't touch the stuff.

Actually I mean these yellow stuff that is supposedly water gel. Look here:

I've been using the yellow one because the closest PetSmart/Petco to me doesn't have the blue one. I'm thinking I should stop using it because it calcium-fortified, but what do you guys/girls think first?

Based on the theory that extra calcium makes invert molting more difficult, I'd say stop. Buy some plain ole water crystals if need be.

The Flukers stuff really is pretty horrible, price and quality-wise, imo.

based on the fact that you are giving about 5 bucks for 16 oz of water and 2 cents worth of water jell polymer id say buy the large size from watersorb.com or hit me up when i reorder for some and hydrate it yourself.

A water dish with some gravel in it so they don't drown should work well. I feed them fish food flakes, don't know if it is harmful but, they eat it and seem to live longer. Also I mist the walls of the tank a little each day, that way they can drink which ever way they want to.

You can get water crystals at Home Depot for like 12 bucks or so, and it's enough for like 50 gallons of water crystals.
