I use them and my herps that need UV light seem to be healthy, none are suffering MBD. Also making sure the vitamin/calcium supplements contain vitamin D3, helps.

OK thanks. Someone in another forums said they were useless though. Might try one. Do they have like 5.0/10 etc. like Reptisun?

Not that I am aware, their output is about 3%-5%. So that maybe an issue if have species that need higher UV output.

Do they have a reptile specific one? Cuz the ones I see around are for Avians. Are those different?

Be carefull with ESU, for a long time they put out very little UVB, recently they were redid and now the UVB output is so high it is causeing blindness in bearded dragons.
You need reptile specific bulbs, not avian. Try ordering online from reptilesupply.com, they carry reptisun and repti glo with a very good price.

I had one with my first beardie. Had to wait about a month to get the MVB I wanted, so I just got that one to hold me over. The difference in the lil girl between the ESU and the MVB were night and day. Ate more, more active, grew quicker, the whole nine yards.

At the time I thought I was doing ok by just using the ESU until I got the MVB, I wish I honestly would have waited, and kick myself for not reading reviews on ESU before I bought(granted, it was only 10$, but 10$ is 10$). Everything I've read and heard is that ESU is crap. I've heard about little to no UV output, mass dose of it which trails off quickly, shorter than normal bulb life(I can personally confirm this one. Had the thing for 2.5 weeks and when the timer turned the lights on one morning, but bulb blew up. Thank got the beardie was in her hide). Plus the generally just seemed to be really really cheap(but I guess you get what you pay for)

Here's a link to the MVB I got, didn't think 40$ was too bad.
