Anyone know what this is?

Hi, does anyone know what this could be? I found a couple of them in with a tub of crickets. They're about a centimeter long. Thanks

Wait, where are they? They are beneficial in certain places.

They were in with some crickets that I bought online. I thought they may be harmful to the crickets so I put them in the garden

They wont eat live crickets but they will eat just about any dead dry organic tissue, so can be a serious pest in homes. In controlled quantities they can be useful as a cleanup crew for crickets, which is why they're often found with them, but their populations can get out of control very quickly and cause problems.

Ah I see. It's the first time I've ever seen them as they haven't been in with any crickets I've bought previously. Thanks for the explanation, at least I'll know what they are in the future

If they do get out of control there is a very willing and eager crowd of people on eBay chomping at the bit to buy them. Just a heads up.
Edit: I mean the beetles, not the crickets.

I should sent them to my old apartment - they can get all their clothing and soft furnishings completely infested for FREE!
