I'd love to purchase tarantulas online and stuff, but I'd rather not pay for shipping and risk DoA's
Does anyone know any good, reputable pet stores or breeders that sell tarantulas in the North Carolina area?
To drive out and purchase T's, I would feel a lot more comfortable and secure about the transaction.

P.S. Preferably within 3 hours of a drive from East Carolina University

Your unfounded fear of shipping problems will keep you from ever owning the vast majority of t's. Shop the classifieds here. You live in the south, so any place you buy from another southern state is a safe bet, even in the winter. As long as there isn't some sort of severe cold front, overnight shipping is your choice, but not mandatory. I live up north where its actually cold...not Carolina cold...lol...and I make my purchases from spring to fall and RARELY spend the $ on overnight. $10-15 on 2 day gets the job done just fine. Properly packed t's ship exceptionally well and doa's are the exception, not the rule. I have YET to have a doa.

I have only had one DOA from two day shipping, I am in NC lol. Just one of those crazy things that rarely happen. I have bought tons of animals though, your definitely limiting yourself by not wanting to buy online.

Here's another thing to consider. You will pay 3-5 times more for the same t in an LPS that you will buying from a dealer, easily off-setting even the high costs of overnight shipping.

Agreed with the above. I've placed over 2 dozen orders from a handful of different sellers, always 2-day shipping, and I've yet to receive any doa's. Tarantulas are hardy little things (compared to other animals) and the professional packing jobs almost always ensure they arrive alive in one piece.
