White lip pythons typically have a rather flighty personality, few I've dealt with tolerate being handled. They are often quite willing to bite and will squirm like mad to get away. Even with patient handling, they often keep this attitude.

Care isn't too difficult, they are a higher humidity species, which must be maintained at least 75%, temps ranging from the low 70s to high 80s at the basking spot - provided from an under tank heat pad is preferred. I know people who keep them on newspaper, carpet, cypress mulch, carefresh... so substrate is largely personal preference. Of course, hide boxes, large water bowl, etc.

Almost all animals for sale are imports, few are bred in captivity - so when they get here they are usually absolutely loaded with parasites. I've seen babies for sale from 75-150 USD, captive bred being on the high end of the scale. Adults generally go for more.

Guess I should also mention that there are two color variations as well - ones with the gold on the sides like the pic above, and ones that are all black (except their lips of course). This can account for some price difference, the black ones tend to be a little more pricy from what I've seen (of course, I haven't priced them in a year or more).

Speaking of White Lipped pythons, Steve Irwin is holding one on Croc Diaries.

It's more of a gold colored one. DIdn't bite him, but he mentioned that they're notorious for biting.

Edit: I lied, he showed a bite mark at the end.
