I have 4 adult female Chilean recluses. I’ve had them for around 6 years I think. I was wondering what happened to them? I haven’t seen any in a long time, does anyone else keep them lol? It seems like they were available and then disappeared haha

Most recluses seem to have disappeared from the hobby. Its really sad. I know myself and quite a few people miss Sicarius hahni and similar sp as well.

Been looking for sand spiders myself, no one seems to offer them anymore. I'm told they aren't popular enough. I'm also not sure if they are bred in captivity or have to be wc. Either way, they are on my wishlist and every few months I'll send a round mail to dealers/vendors to see if one has them.

If you can reproduce them then it would be highly appreciated. Whether it be true spiders or not, anything CB is welcomed. True spiders are not as appreciated as tarantulas just yet, but the market is slowly growing on them. With people taking interests in jumping spiders and Eresus species, there is slowly an increase on true spiders.

People want cool pets and the people who do buy them are not breeders most of the time. So it really isn't a good end result long-term in terms of producing or establishing more in the hobby. If more CB is to be produced or sustained, it must go to the right individuals who is/are a breeder and less of them going to the average hobbyists. Nothing against the average hobbyists, but that's just how it is sometimes. Maybe they'll come back in the future, who knows?

I wanted to ask you something but your I couldn’t start a conversation with you. I know you have worked with other mygalomorphs before so was wondering if you were interested in a macrothele male. Sorry that this is completely off topic.
In regards to your question I believe I have seen L. laeta sold before by some vendors(it might of been a different native recluse). It seems Loxosceles simillima is the biggest thing right know

Thank you, sadly I don’t have any Macrothele but I wish I did. I love heavy webbers like that! People need to start realizing non tarantula spiders are just as fun to keep (sometimes more so)
