I've tried looking up care info for these fellas and all I can find is how to cook them!

Basically I'm trying to found out how much and how often to feed them.

These are commercial food fish, so you won't find much on how to care for them as pets.

A friend of mine kept one about 10 years ago, so I asked him, and he had this to say: Feed it 2-3 times a week on feeder fish, fish parts and frozen food, as much as it will eat in about 10 minutes.

He also asked me to tell whoever wanted to know that it was the single most aggravating fish he had kept in 30+ years. Apparently it was a master escape artist, voracious, messy and hostile. He eventually gave up and ate it LOL

I was aware of how they can easily escape. I'm wondering how the heck it was hostile though? Did he actually try handling it like a snake? Or did it not get along with other fish?

He may say that they are a very aggravating fish to keep, but there's an established population that I know of that I wish to help get rid of, and I think they'd make a pretty interesting pet, or a very delicious meal :D .

I really would like to get a good look at their faces, too, google doesn't offer many great photos of the animals(NEVERMIND I googled the latin name and got a great headshot....man they look almost comical)

These are mucho cool, but I have a hankering for eels & eel-like critters. If you need homes for this established population, I'll take one...or six.

Oh you've had 'em? Or do you want to eat them? Hence the drooling...

Nah- the closest thing I've kept are leeches & lampreys. And though I like eel for eating, I don't think I'd keep eels for that purpose.

These guys aren't even true eels. They only look like eels. They're still fish though.

From what I've been told, the American eels are the cutest things ever.
