I've fostered in the past. I really suggest checking out http://www.redearsliders.com, they have some fantastic info (and, unlike many sites, pretty accurate). What exactly did you want to compare notes on? I'm reasonably well educated on them and would be happy to talk shop if I knew where to start.

I have one RES and one Red Bellied Cooter. This is my setup- its a 75 gallon tank 48x18x18 inches- totally filled with water, half of it is land with a basking spot/UVB light. Filtration is an Aqua Clear 110, 2 Fluval 204's and an Aqua Clear 50 power head. Water gets a near full change every week and a half or so.

Sorry the water looks nasty in this picture- I had just added a new filter and cleaned the tank, so everything was stirred up!

I used to have 3. I got them in Jr. High from my french teacher. They were about 4 years old at the time, and I kept them for another 6 years. We gave one away to my high school science teacher who was looking for one for a tank in her husband's office. They just kept getting bigger, and maintaining their tank was getting too tedious, so I found them a nice home with a man who kept several of them. They are great, a lot of fun, but a lot of work, as they needed so much space. They were in a 10 gallon tank when we first got them, and gave them away in an eighty gallon tank.
