Any one keep ant lions?

i am not sure on the real name of them, just saw them on animal planet, they look really cool and seem like something someone would keep as a pet. little ambushers they are. yes..

I've kept them. They are interesting little critters while the last. Then they turn into a flying stage which I have not been able to keep alive. Try any sandy areas with little foot traffic and you should find them.

I've kept them. I've kept two sp when I was a kid. One sp was pretty big but made a small trap. The other more common one I would keep was smaller but made a bigger, deeper trap. Real easy. A container, fine sand and ants. They turn around relative to where the prey is and flick sand up at them with their head to make them fall to the bottom while they are trying to climb up the edge. They go around in a circle going deeper and deeper to make their trap while throwing sand out using their head. Pretty weird.

Watching them dig and expand pits is really weird. Make sure the walls of the container are tall or you have a lid(but keep humidity low) if you have them on a tabletop or similar otherwise they will fling sand all over the place.
