During our other cat's (No) pregnancy and kitten raising, our Sea Cow took on all the duties of surrogate mother. She dry nursed along with No. So the kittens got raised and claimed, No got flattened on the highway and our remaining kitten, Gnarly, slowly grew up. She took nearly a year to wean, dry nursing, then about 5 months ago she quit.

Sea Cow, a little mentally deficient from word go, apparently felt unfulfilled. Around 3 months ago her nipples became distended and her appetite went ballistic. After the first month or so she qualified for the description tubby. Towards the end of the second months I got to wondering if she had somehow escaped the house, had a fling, and unescaped, while we were looking the other way. I started palpating for kittens.

Well, now closing in on her 4th month of not preggoness she appears to have swallowed a soccer ball. Very laconic, grumpy, uncomfortable sometimes, but otherwise healthy. Her appetite if anything has grown and she's willing to duke it out with the dog for his dinner.

Now while I suspect there may be a goldmine in selling phantom kittens, we really love Sea Cow and want to best for her. Since do it yourself brain surgery is probably not a good idea I thought I'd ask around for suggestions. ???
