I have a M. Martensii (around 2nd instar) that I'm having trouble feeding pinheads or chopped crix. It usually runs away - is there any problem with feeding it something smaller such as sugar ants? I seem to have an infinite supply of those outside.

Yes, never use ants. If anyone around you has sprayed for ants, they could have chemicals and poisons on their bodies or feet. If your scorpion ate them, it could get sick and die from the chemicals.

As a rule, try to avoid feeding your scorpions bugs that you find around your house. Again, the chemicals that are used for pest control could kill your scorpions.

re: previous post - of course these would be dead / squished :p
But I'll take the advice about the chemicals. I wonder if they eat them in the wild?

Thanks again

not ALL ants are bad. i wouldnt never use them cuz of pesticides but the little tiny black ants that are the size of newborn crix dont bite, or anything. They are small harmless ants that I ONCE fed to a baby scorp. They are a bit more crunchy though and harder to catch because they can climb up glass. but they are harmless to a scorp. Unless in huge numbers probably!
