Ants are starting to invade my roach colonies! What can I do to control them? I've already placed double-sided tape on the outside and in (where the roaches can't reach it) hoping to trap the ones that have already came in and keeping future ones out if that'll help. What else can I do?

BTW lord only knows I couldn't tell what kinds of ants these are, but they are tiny and dark-colored (brown in the right light) in case anyone needs to know.

Get some bug barrier, it keeps ants from getting in. It is on all my important spiders enclosures.

You can temporarily put the containers in your tub w/ an inch or so of water too, that will keep the ants from being able to get to them.

You mean that stuff Aaron Pauling sells or can that be found locally in a store? I never thought about that. Good thing you gave me that advice, too because I found out that the tape isn't working anyway!:wall:

Vaseline works. Ants will not go near it. I tested it when my first entire roach colony was destroyed by millions of ants. They were carrying dead bodies up the side of the bin. I also had about a thousand baby crickets that was invaded as well. Not one survived! The entire container was black full of ants :mad:

So now I have my bin on a chair and the 4 chair feet are sitting in little Jell-o cups smeared with Vaseline. And the 4 legs are also with Vaseline smeared up to 12 inches. The ants would have to climb the cup and get into it than climb the chair feet. But all of that is with vaseline so they cannot get to my bin unless they fly.;P

I would buy from Bioquip(Insect-a-slip) as I believe it is cheaper from them, but whatever... :)

Why did I have a sudden image of a super villian ant queen zooming in cackling to begin her nest.

placing the container in a bigger container and putting a little water between the two works well also. Kinda like a moat.
