Well the wasp was in a weakened state so the ant had a distinct advantage. There were actually a number of wasps around the same area that were in a similar poor shape and prime targets for ants.

if I am not mistaken that looks like a parasitic wasp- could of been the end of their life cycle ants will scavange anything they find even half dead wasps :)
